Position Overview: Join our dedicated team as an On-Call Substitute Classroom Assistant, where you will help provide high-quality child and family services in alignment with the Head Start Performance Standards. Your role is crucial in creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children aged birth to five. Key Responsibilities: Support the growth and development of children through engaging teaching practices and maintaining an organized learning space. Ensure classrooms and materials are cleaned and sanitized according to established guidelines. Assist the teaching team by fulfilling various classroom duties, including substituting for the Teacher Assistant when necessary. Implement The Creative Curriculum to deliver developmentally appropriate activities while adhering to health and safety standards. Utilize positive guidance techniques to nurture social-emotional and behavioral health in children. Conduct health checks, manage medication, and facilitate hygiene practices within the classroom. Maintain supervision of children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being. Encourage family engagement by welcoming parents into the classroom and supporting their role as educators. Document services provided accurately and maintain organized records as per federal, state, and program requirements. Participate actively in team communication and collaboration, helping to solve issues and foster an inclusive environment. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with preference given to candidates who hold or are pursuing an Infant/Toddler or Preschool Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential. Paid experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers is highly desirable. Must be enrolled in the Oregon Department of Education-Child Care Division Central Background Registry upon hiring. Must obtain Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certification, Oregon Food Handler's card, and a Health Appraisal within the first 30 days of employment. Work Environment: This position involves lifting items up to 51 pounds, with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities in varying conditions. Regular attendance and participation in off-site training events will be required.
