Java Platform Architect

Role: Platform Architect Duration: 6 - 12 months Location: Alpharetta, GA Rate: $65-70/hr . (Flexibility around rate for strong candidate depending on the years of Exp) Job Description: Java Platform Architect Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Java Platform Architect with strong expertise in Java, Python, and API design to lead the architecture and development of enterprise-scale platforms. This role requires hands-on technical leadership, deep knowledge of modern application frameworks, and the ability to design robust, scalable, and secure solutions across diverse technology domains. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Architecture Define and drive end-to-end enterprise architecture across applications, data, and integration layers. Design and document technical flows for mission-critical systems with a focus on scalability and performance. Application & API Design rchitect and implement service-oriented, cloud-native solutions using Java, Python, and modern API frameworks (REST, gRPC, event-driven). Establish best practices for API development, integration, and lifecycle management. Collaboration & Leadership Partner with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to shape platform strategy and delivery. Guide architectural decisions across application, data, cloud, and security domains. Mentor developers and engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovation. Standards & Governance Develop and enforce architecture patterns, principles, and coding standards. Ensure compliance with security, performance, and observability requirements. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies. Drive modernization initiatives, including microservices, containerization, and cloud migration. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (BE/B.Tech/MCA). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications / Skills 12+ years of experience in architecture/engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a lead or enterprise architect capacity. Strong expertise in Java (Spring, Spring Boot) and Python for enterprise application development. Proven ability to define and implement API architectures (REST, gRPC, event-based, microservices). Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling. Solid understanding of security architecture, identity management, and data governance. Experience working across domains: application, infrastructure, data, and integration. Familiarity with EA frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and enterprise-scale environments. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Ideal Candidate Traits Hands-on technologist with strong coding background in Java and Python.
