Registered Nurse Pass The registered nurse pass serves as the main point of contact for the pass program for surgery schedulers, physicians, and support services staff. The position coordinates and evaluates preoperative screening for assigned patients in a timely fashion and establishes a staff friendly, efficient, preoperative process for patients having surgery in orthoindy hospital facilities. Essential duties include: Speaking with patients via telephone to complete preoperative health assessment, including medication, medical and surgical history. Attending to patient needs and gathering complete and appropriate medical information to ensure timely preoperative scheduling. Answering and or following-up patient questions and concerns. Maintaining complete communication with physician staff regarding pass program requests and scheduled appointments. Documenting appointments in emr under surgery scheduling communicating both date of appointments and date clearance received and completed. Providing instruction, information, and counseling to patients and their families as needed. Utilizing policy and guidelines to determine additional medical clearance or lab work indicated. Responsible for daily review of requests, faxes, and completed clearances. Reviewing complex or unclear medical information with physicians and documenting actions taken in emr. Assisting with the coordination of care, initiation of care plans and specific interventions as indicated. Providing oversight, support and collaborating with licensed practical nurses as assigned. Supporting other team members which may include providing assistance during an influx of patient volume or based on department need. Requirements include: Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor of science in nursing preferred from a nationally accredited nursing program. Registered nurse license in the state of indiana required. Bls certification required. 2-4 years of related experience required, 4-6 years preferred. Orthoindy is an equal opportunity employer.
