Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 1st Shift VCC Machine Operator in the Furniture Mfg. Department at our Tupelo/Verona, MS manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the safe operation of a specific piece of equipment used in the manufacture of components and/or finished products for internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule. As an hourly VCC Machine Operator, the successful candidate will be expected to communicate on a daily basis with multiple levels of Company personnel and most importantly with the Managers, Supervisors and employees in the manufacturing plant. The VCC Operator works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes. Additional responsibilities of the VCC Machine Operator position will include: Operate a contour cutter to ensure maximum usage of bun/sheet stock or rolled fiber with minimal generation of trim. Must be able to operate the machinery proficiently according to customer specifications and daily production schedule. Input cutting programs on VCC machines and process cutting operations accordingly. Maintain a neat, orderly and safe working environment. Conducts quality checks to ensure products meet all specification. Communicate needs to saw and index operators. Inputs pertinent data into the SAP system. Skills/ Requirements Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. 2+ years of machine operation experience. Ability to read and interpret a tape measure. Basic reading, writing, math and computer skills. Ability to backup other operators (F&K, slitter and saw). Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and call-in with little notice. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must be forklift certified. No phone calls or agencies, please.
