SUMMARY Founded in 1945 as the Wire and Cable Division of Times Appliance Corp., the company began by manufacturing insulated copper wiring for appliances. Over the following decades, it became a pioneer in the cable television and broadband industry, setting industry standards for coaxial cable performance, introducing low-loss dielectrics, expanding bandwidth capabilities, and being the first to guarantee return-loss characteristics on trunk and feeder cables. The company consistently led innovation-from early multiconductor and coaxial cables to the introduction of fiber-optic technology and high-bandwidth cable systems-helping shape modern cable and hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks. A major milestone in its growth was the establishment of the Chatham, Virginia manufacturing facility in 1973, which became a key production site for semi-flexible and drop cable products and supported the company's expansion in the cable television and broadband markets. The Virginia operation played an important role in advancing cable technology and strengthening the company's manufacturing footprint in the United States. Today, the company's history reflects a strong foundation of innovation, quality, and manufacturing excellence rooted in Virginia, continuing under the Amphenol name and continuing production into the 21st century.
