Therapists also provide education services, such as living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma awareness programs. The job entails a 3 and 4-day rotation every week. Candidates with 3-5 years of hospital experience are preferred. The role includes working in critical care and emergency settings, as well as with pediatric patients. Skills required for this role include: Experience in cystic fibrosis management, capillary blood gases, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Knowledge in assisting high-risk deliveries and managing extubation and intubation processes is essential. Therapists should be proficient in pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care and management. Candidates will also be responsible for administering various medications and therapies related to respiratory care. The role demands the ability to work well under pressure and in emergency situations. Candidates must meet fit testing requirements, and there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding THC. Medical marijuana cards are not accepted. A letter from an approved provider is required for any exemptions related to fit testing.
