Samples and inspects inbound commodities in accordance with cGMP and site procedures. Responsible for handling and delivery of all raw material test samples, environmental monitoring and reserves intended for use in the Manufacture and packaging of the site's products. Job Description ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Enters product data from Certificates of Analysis into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS) and samples chemical products purchased for the factory's use Inspects purchased packaging components for compliance to specifications Subdivides samples of manufactured and purchased chemical products, setting aside a portion of each for retention as a Reserve Sample This person must initiate investigations for materials that are sent to the site in substandard condition Follows good documentation practices for the accurate and timely documentation of all activities. Duties are performed out of doors year round, as well as inside warehouses, laboratories, offices and climbing on tank trucks to retrieve samples Collects and delivers environmental monitoring samples to the laboratory for testing Assistance in testing of raw materials, components, and environmental monitoring samples Peer review all levels of work Conducts lab investigations DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Maintains reserve sample storage areas and transfers samples as requested Processes re-sample requests as needed Upholds housekeeping of work areas Inventories supplies and PPE as well as ordering when stock is depleted MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Education: HS Diploma is required Experience: Experience in a cGMP environment. Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office. Physically able to lift moderately on a daily basis and wear required PPE. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Knowledge of wet chemistry testing is preferred. Basic knowledge of industry practices and standards. Good technical writing and oral communication skills. COMPETENCIES: Informing, Customer Focus, Listening, Perseverance, Organizing, Functional/Technical Skills, Peer Relationships, Comfort Around Higher Management. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP/SCOPE: Interacts with personnel in MH&D, Purchasing, Quality, R&D, and Manufacturing. WORKING CONDITIONS: 80% Plant exposure to products, solvents and reagents, some of which are hazardous or potent compounds. 20% Office/Laboratory Environment. Required to work 8 -12 hour shifts, the potential for night, weekend, and holiday work depending on the needs of the business. Duties are performed out of doors year round, as well as inside warehouses, laboratories and offices. PPE is worn in both indoor and outdoor situations.
