Supervisor Of Electrical Installations And Maintenance In order to be considered for this position, the candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Supervisor of Electrical Installations and Maintenance or must have taken, passed, and be reachable on the open - competitive Supervisor of Installations and Maintenance Exam #4105. The Division of Traffic Operations is seeking three experienced Supervisors of Electrical Installations and Maintenance (Level 2) to join our Electrical Inspections Unit. These roles support the expansion and modernization of DOT's Automated Enforcement program, which consists of red light, speed, and bus lane cameras. The Department is increasing the installation of camera-enforced locations, upgrading existing systems, and introducing new advanced technologies to support the programs. Successful candidates will play a key role in ensuring high-quality contractor performance, quality assurance, contract compliance, and reliable electrical infrastructure across the city. Key Responsibilities - Supervise electrical installations for street lighting, traffic signals, and capital construction projects. - Ensure contract compliance, verify billing accuracy, and review project plans and specifications. - Direct and follow up on street lighting orders, enforcement compliance, and related inspections. - Coordinate with other city agencies, explain technical standards, and inspect materials and equipment. - Oversee construction activities performed by contractors and monitor progress on repairs and installations. - Investigate complaints, assess site conditions, and ensure timely resolution of issues. - Prepare Street Lighting and/or Signals Maintenance contracts. - Perform additional related duties as assigned. Work Location: 34-02 Queens Blvd LIC, NY 11101 Hours/Shift: 35 Hrs./Shift TBD This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37. Minimum Qualifications - Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in the installation, repair and/or inspection of electrical equipment, at least two years of which must have involved a large building or facility of at least 100,000 square feet or a number of buildings of at least 3 stories, adding up to a total of at least 100,000 square feet; or - A combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the four years of experience required in "1" above. College education leading to a baccalaureate degree in engineering or engineering technology may be substituted for the required experience in the installation, repair and/or inspection of buildings and/or facilities on the basis of 5 semester credits for two months of experience up to a maximum of 60 semester credits. However, to qualify, candidates must have at least two years of the required experience in the installation, repair and/or inspection of electrical equipment in a building or facility of at least 100,000 square feet or a number of buildings of at least 3 stories, adding up to a total of at least 100,000 square feet; or - One year of full-time satisfactory experience working for a city agency or authority governed by the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York performing the full range of duties in the installation, repair and/or inspection of electrical equipment and/or systems in buildings, grounds, and/or facilities. This requirement is applicable for this examination only. Experience which is primarily as an apprentice, helper or laborer is not acceptable towards meeting the qualification requirements. Driver License Requirement: By the time you are appointed to this position, you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension(s) or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment. Preferred Skills - Experience in performing detailed internal audits. - Demonstrates technical proficiency in using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel - Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated - Possess strong analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills.
