Director, Data Center Design Strategy

Job Description We are looking for an experienced Director of Data Center Design Strategy to lead innovative designs and strategies for our data center operations. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maximizing data center efficiency through optimal rack layouts, power distribution, and advanced cooling methodologies. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure that our designs meet global organizational goals and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities Data Center Design & Optimization: Develop comprehensive strategies for operational planning and optimization of data center white space. Oversee documentation processes, ensuring detailed room layouts and equipment specifications are accurate and accessible. Establish design standards and Basis of Design (BoD) documents to guide all internal and partner teams. Manage the development of high-performance cabling systems tailored for future scalability. Review site layouts and configurations for compliance and best practices. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Lead collaborative efforts with colocation providers, developers, and internal teams. Influence cross-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure robust and reliable systems. Facilitate project meetings to maintain alignment on objectives and deliverables. Develop collaboration strategies with technology partners for efficient resource mapping. Leadership in Project Management: Oversee engineering projects from conception to execution, aligning them with strategic objectives. Guide both internal and external team members throughout all project phases, ensuring cohesive operations. Ensure deliverables meet high standards of quality and exceed expectations. Provide expertise in contract management and compliance, reviewing key documentation. Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of growth and development. Support and Validation: Supervise validation processes and provide engineering insights for existing data centers. Act as a subject matter expert in mission-critical systems to drive operational advancements. Coordinate engineering support during critical events to ensure operational continuity. Champion the documentation process to enhance knowledge sharing across teams. Standards and Innovation: Lead the development of global standards for data center infrastructure. Guide the evolution of commissioning protocols and compliance documentation. Influence design initiatives and promote a culture of continuous improvement. Oversee research into innovative designs and engineering solutions. Core Responsibilities Planning & Execution: Monitor complex projects to ensure alignment with business strategies and objectives. Performance and Development: Model effective performance management practices, promoting talent growth and development. Collaborate with HR to advance the talent strategy in hiring and promotions. Compensation: The hiring range for this position is from $139,400 to $291,800 per annum, with eligibility for bonuses and equity options.
