Secondary Assistant Principal JobID: 3673 Position Type:Administration/ Assistant Principal Date Posted:3/5/2026 Location:District Wide Date Available:07/01/2026 Closing Date:04/03/2026 WEBSTER CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICTOpen PositionPosition Title: Secondary Assistant Principal - Middle School (Position Number 2526-3673)Location: District WideStarting Date: July 1, 2026Position Summary: The Secondary Assistant Principal is a full-time administrator who will assist the High School/Middle School Principal with the coordination and direction of the high school/middle school instructional program.This position requires a thorough knowledge of the latest educational trends, theories, and techniques, understanding of curriculum development, staff evaluation and program supervision.Supervisor: The Secondary Assistant Principal is directly responsible to the High School/Middle School Principal for assisting with the administration of the education program and supervision of the staff assigned to his/her jurisdiction and for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs for staff development in the high/middle school.Qualifications: An individual filling the position of Secondary Assistant Principal must hold New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or its equivalent.Requirements: Experience implementing NYS Standards and curriculum alignment Knowledge regarding child development to address social, emotional, physical, and academic growth Experience with data driven instructional decision making Practical experiences in promoting inclusion for all students Ability to coach staff in addressing the diverse social, emotional, physical, and academic needs of all students Intrinsically motivated to address the daily routines of a school community Essential ResponsibilitiesInstructional Program Supervises, coordinates and evaluates instructional programs in those academic areas as assigned by the principal. Works cooperatively with the building principal and other assistant principals regarding the development of the NYS testing and examination schedules and supervises the administration of all NYS and Local /midterm/final exams Works cooperatively with the building principal and other assistant principals regarding such matters as in-service training and testing program. Advises and supervises teachers in planning, testing and monitoring student achievement. Assists in the construction of the master schedule and has an awareness of the educational impact of scheduling decisions. Coordinates the development and implementation of interdisciplinary programs and monitors curriculum alignment. Establishes links among curriculum content, teaching materials, teaching strategies and assessment instruments between regular and resource programs. Facilitates infusion of skills and knowledge from academic course sequences into non-academic subjects. Recommends changes in program that meet the needs of the students of the community and monitors its implementation. Serves as a resource for matters relating to educational trends, methods, materials and research findings. Integrates and aligns core elements of instruction, curriculum development, classroom supervision and staff development to achieve a well-balanced school improvement plan. Establishes and implements ongoing needs assessment techniques with all departments. Serves as liaison to local institutes of higher learning in curriculum-related areas. Assists the administrative team in student control. Facilitates articulation with secondary school staff in matters relating to the instructional program. Staff Leadership Assists in the design and implementation of orientation programs for new teachers, student teachers and substitutes. Assists in the screening and selection of building staff. Consults with the principal regarding recommendations for tenure. Observes classes and evaluates teacher performance as it relates to student learning. Facilitates the improvement of instructional effectiveness and communication among teachers. Assists in the preparation of programs that meet individual staff needs consistent with building or departmental goals. Works cooperatively with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to prepare and deliver in-service training for staff. Supervises assigned secondary school department leaders on a regular basis and facilitated coordination with the vice-principals and other department heads. Accepts such other duties as may be assigned by the secondary school principal Administration Assumes the duties of the principal in his/her absence. Works cooperatively with other building administrators in the development and revision of the Faculty Handbook. Serves on the school administrative decision-making team. Accepts such other duties as may be assigned by the principal. Students Assists in implementing procedures for evaluating student progress and reporting to parents. Assists in the development of scheduling and placement of students, student activities, and the organizational patterns for instructional purposes. Assists in arrangement of student guidance programs within the school. Works to achieve a positive learning climate for students. Finance Assists in the development of building budget and overseeing expenditures Assists in the preparation of the instructional budget. Community Relations Assists in the development of meaningful programs for community groups when so requested. Maintains effective liaison with community parent groups in matters related to curriculum and student wellness Assists in the interpretation of the secondary instructional program to district residents.
