Job Summary The Philanthropy Director serves as a key representative of the Memorial Hermann Foundation, driving major gifts fundraising programs to meet and exceed our annual fundraising objectives. You will demonstrate leadership and collaborative skills by working closely with Foundation staff, system personnel, and physicians to gather philanthropic support for our mission. This role requires managing a portfolio of major donors and prospects, where your ability to influence and engage others is crucial, alongside adept management of relationships with high-profile donors, senior management, Board members, physicians, and volunteers. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree Licenses/Certifications: None Required, CRFE preferred Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience, with at least three (3) years in major gifts fundraising—preferably within the healthcare or non-profit sector—or eight (8) years of related work experience. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to engage with senior management, board members, high-level volunteers, and donors. Proven ability to think strategically to acquire, engage, upgrade, and steward donors effectively. Track record of building and sustaining relationships with donors, staff, partners, and physicians. Goal-driven and organized, with strong problem-solving capabilities to manage multiple priorities. Capacity to persuade and motivate others. Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and adapt to diverse needs and conditions. Professionalism, maturity, collegiality, and diplomacy are essential. Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Raiser's Edge is a plus. Principal Accountabilities Oversee and achieve annual fundraising goals defined by performance standards. Establish direct communication with donors, prospects, and their advisors, representing the Foundation within professional and philanthropic circles. Develop and implement strategies for specialized campaigns (e.g., capital campaigns) and fundraising initiatives, coordinating necessary materials and functions. Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, focusing primarily on securing gifts of $50,000 or more from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Set measurable, achievable, and aspirational goals with guidance to ensure delivery of results across all assigned areas. Participate in and promote the Foundation's fundraising initiatives, including special events, employee campaigns, and donor engagement activities. Collaborate with the Foundation team for cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and gift officer portfolios, working closely with advancement services on data and gift processing. Encourage professional growth by meeting educational requirements and supporting department-based goals that enhance organizational success. Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards while managing budgetary constraints including time and resource management. Demonstrate a commitment to personalized care and compassionate experiences for all community members, embodying Memorial Hermann's service standards in all interactions. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
