Simpson is looking for a Certified Medication Technician (Med-Tech) to join our dynamic team. Position Summary The Medication Technician (Med-Tech) is responsible for assisting residents with medication administration in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations, physician orders, and community policies. The Med-Tech works closely with caregivers and nursing staff to ensure residents receive safe, timely, and accurate medication support while promoting resident independence, dignity, and well-being. Key Responsibilities Medication Administration Administer and document medications to residents following physician orders and community medication administration policies. Ensure the Five Rights of Medication Administration (right resident, right medication, right dose, right route, right time). Accurately document medication administration in the Medication Administration Record (MAR/eMAR). Observe residents for medication reactions or side effects and report concerns promptly. Assist with medication reminders when appropriate. Resident Care Support Provide limited assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) when needed, including: Ambulation assistance Personal hygiene support Dressing or grooming support Monitor residents' overall health and report changes in condition to nursing staff or supervisors. Maintain a respectful and supportive environment for residents. Medication Storage & Compliance Maintain safe storage of medications according to Pennsylvania regulations. Ensure medication carts and storage areas are clean, locked, and organized. Assist with medication inventory, ordering, and disposal procedures. Participate in medication audits and compliance checks. Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all medication-related activities. Communicate effectively with nurses, caregivers, physicians, pharmacy partners, and family members when needed. Participate in shift reports and care team meetings. Safety & Infection Control Follow infection control practices and safety procedures. Respond to emergency situations according to community protocols. Maintain CPR/First Aid readiness where required. Education & Certification High school diploma or GED required. Medication Administration Training required in accordance with Pennsylvania DHS regulations (for Personal Care Homes or Assisted Living Residences). CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required within specified timeframe. Experience Previous experience in senior living, assisted living, personal care homes, or healthcare preferred. Experience administering medications in a senior care environment preferred. Skills & Competencies Knowledge of medication administration procedures. Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Compassionate and resident-focused approach to care. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25-50 pounds. Ability to assist residents with mobility. Ability to respond quickly to emergencies. Work Environment Senior Living / Assisted Living community setting. May require evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts.
