Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/30/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Mar 30, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology unit, requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and an active CO or compact RN license. Details Work setting is an inpatient medical surgical unit with an oncology focus (3SW) Patient population includes cancer and general med/surg patients with complex needs including pain management, chemotherapy, neutropenic precautions, bone biopsies, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and chronic pleural drain management Unit has 22 staffed beds Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights; ratios may flex up based on staffing needs Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15 Weekend availability required per unit needs Floating within scope to like units is required No on-call requirements Charting is done in Epic (preferred experience) Equipment used includes Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, and Baxter pumps Navy scrubs required Requirements Active CO or compact RN license required Current AHA BLS certification required Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required; OCN and NIHSS also preferred Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required; candidates without travel experience are preferred to have more than 2 years of med/surg background Inpatient oncology experience required, including chemotherapy administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, cytotoxic spill management, and chemotherapy monitoring Experience with IV therapy including central lines, PICC lines, ports, blood product administration, and infusion pump management Ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values Telemetry interpretation and monitoring experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Additional Information Responsible for caring for oncology and med/surg patients including those undergoing chemotherapy, biotherapy, and post-surgical recovery Candidate must not have applied to UCHealth's internal travel or permanent staff positions within the last two years to be eligible for consideration Candidates who have completed a full year on assignment with UCHealth OR should not be rebooked for at least one year No blocked scheduling requests permitted RTO is capped at 10 days per 13-week contract; certain high-demand blackout periods apply First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are considered local and subject to a different bill rate Orientation includes non-billable online modules averaging approximately 4 hours, completed during the first day of new employee orientation American Traveler Job ID P-680638.
