Salary: $84,600.00 - $126,900.00 Annually Location : Decatur, AL Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 07544 College/Division: ACCSO-100285-Certification and Credentialing Opening Date: 03/03/2026 Closing Date: 3/16/2026 3:00 PM Central Campus Location: Alabama Community College System Position Summary The Digital Learning Systems Manager serves as the Innovation Center's senior expert for managing, designing, overseeing the strategic management, design, and optimization of the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and all integrated instructional technologies. This position carries statewide responsibility for the loading, maintenance, and performance of all Innovation Center courses, ensuring every Skills for Success and workforce training program is seamlessly delivered and accessible across Alabama's 24 community colleges. Combining instructional design expertise with deep technical knowledge, this role ensures course structure, interactivity, and accessibility meet industry standards and educational best practices. This position collaborates with the Curriculum Design, Workforce, and IT teams to enhance the learner experience, guide faculty and SMEs in effective digital pedagogy, and oversee statewide Canvas initiatives including Credentials, Career, Impact, and Insight implementation. This position may be located anywhere in the state Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY DUTIES: Lead and manage all aspects of statewide Canvas LMS operations, ensuring the successful delivery of all Innovation Center courses across Alabama's 24 community colleges. Load, configure, and publish all courses developed by the Innovation Center into Canvas, blueprinting, maintaining accuracy, accessibility, and functionality. Serve as the primary liaison for Canvas-related projects and issues, coordinating across the Innovation Center, System Office, and college-level LMS administrators. Implement, maintain, and optimize Canvas-integrated tools including Credentials, Career, Impact, Insight, and Studio and other Canvas products and instructional design tools to enhance learner engagement, feedback, and analytics. Collaborate with Curriculum Design, Workforce teams, and stakeholders to ensure statewide course delivery aligns with Innovation Center standards for quality, consistency, and accessibility. Monitor and maintain course performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure timely resolution in partnership with IT and vendor support. Lead the creation and maintenance of standardized course templates, structures, and processes to support consistency across statewide deployments. Develop and maintain LMS documentation, user guides, and training materials for Innovation Center and college personnel. Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Provide training and professional development on Canvas features, course delivery processes, and instructional technology best practices. Ensure compliance with FERPA, ADA/Section 508, copyright, and data security standards. Leverage Canvas Insight and Impact analytics to evaluate engagement, identify issues, and recommend system improvements. SECONDARY DUTIES: Pilot and test new Canvas features, integrations, and content delivery solutions prior to statewide launch. Partner with Innovation Center's Marketing, Curriculum, Workforce, and ACCS IT teams to resolve course design, media, and SCORM compatibility issues. Support the evaluation and adoption of new instructional technologies that enhance the learner experience. Represent the Innovation Center in system-level meetings and external collaborations related to LMS operations and instructional technology. Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current on trends in LMS management, learning analytics, and digital pedagogy. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in instructional design and LMS administration, including large-scale course deployment. Proven ability to develop and design online courses using Canvas and SCORM-based tools (Rise 360, Storyline, etc.). Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining statewide or multi-campus LMS implementations. Strong understanding of learning theory, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 / Section 508), FERPA, and data security best practices. Experience in training faculty and staff in effective use of instructional technology and digital pedagogy. Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with multiple colleges and stakeholders. PREFERRED: Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field. Canvas Certified Technical Administrator (CCTA) or Canvas Certified Educator (CCE) credentials (or willingness to complete within 12 months). Familiarity with learning analytics, instructional design principles, and adult learning theory. Familiarity in workforce or technical education program design. Experience managing statewide or system-wide online learning operations. Experience with project management systems such as Monday.com.
