Position Starting July/August 2026 Grass Lake Elementary School District #36 Job Posting: Maintenance / Custodian Position: Maintenance Personnel Reports to: Superintendent Location: Grass Lake Elementary School District #36 Campus Position Summary Grass Lake Elementary School District #36 is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance/Custodian to support the upkeep of our school buildings and grounds. The Maintenance Personnel is responsible for maintaining the entire Grass Lake campus, ensuring a clean, safe, and functional learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. ResponsibilitiesMaintenanceOpen the facility daily; unlock doors and turn on lights in necessary areas. Repair and maintain the school plant, including but not limited to: HVAC system operation and controls Air ducts and filters Ceiling tiles, walls, and doors Boiler and water systems, including plumbing Electrical systems and lighting fixtures Building envelope, including roof and masonry inspections Accept truck and supply deliveries. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. CustodialMonitor and restock hygiene and cleaning supplies (bathrooms, cleaning closets, etc.). Perform cleaning tasks during the school day, including: Lunchroom cleanup (daily) Bathrooms and hallways as needed Sweeping hall floors and stairs Set up for school events and assemblies. Serve as a runner for building needs as necessary. Maintain copy machine supplies. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. GroundsMaintain school grounds, including: Cutting, watering, and fertilizing grass Removing weeds and maintaining athletic fields Snow and ice removal from walkways and entrances Salting as needed for safety Maintain and repair: Bus barn Parking lot and sidewalks Gutters and drainage Playground and playground equipment Plant and care for trees, shrubs, and bushes. Oversee and maintain outdoor marquees. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. QualificationsDemonstrated skills in general maintenance, custodial, and groundskeeping work. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Dependable, flexible, and professional. High School Diploma or equivalent
