Were currently searching for a Fiscal Assistant to join our Schiffert Health Center team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. Heres what you need to know about the role: 1) Youll be joining the Schiffert Health Center team; a department centered on health care for VT students. 2) Youll be reporting to the Business Manager, in a regular twelve-month, 100% University Staff appointment. 3) The Fiscal Assistant provides general fiscal/office support for the Schiffert Health Center. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, greeting incoming patients, cashiering, purchasing, receiving, travel administration, making reservations and processing payments and reimbursements with state and Foundation funds. Maintains expenditure records and performs monthly fund reconciliations. Enter HR related transactions and assist in the recruiting process. 4) Youll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division. 5) Youll be offered a base compensation package between $36,000-$38,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more! Required qualifications: Basic bookkeeping and cash handling skills and knowledge. Medical terminology knowledge. Computer knowledge and skills with a high level of accuracy. Ability to diplomatically deal with the public, in person and on the telephone on a constant basis. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with patients and staff. Preferred qualifications: Experience in a medical facility, funds handling and security of funds. Experience with electronic medical records. Pay band: 2 Overtime status: Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime Appointment type: Regular Salary information: $36,000 - $42,000 Work schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Hours per week: 40 Review date: 12/01/2025 Additional information: The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
