Position Details Position Information Position Title CLINICAL PRECEPTOR - RADIOGRAPHY Reports To Director Functions and Responsibilities Job Summary The Clinical Preceptor is responsible for the clinical instruction of Essex County College Radiography students within the assigned clinical site. Clinical Instructors must be approved by the JRCERT and NJDEP. Supervisory RoleDuties & Responsibilities Prepare room assignments consistent with each semester's clinical objectives. Ensure that students follow the room assignment schedule and make adjustments as needed to meet contingencies. Monitor student clinical attendance and punctuality while maintaining student clinical records of attendance, competencies and evaluation. Be available in the radiology department and evaluate clinical competency during student rotations. Encourage student critical thinking, analysis, and self evaluation. Counsel and advise students as needed and provide documentation. Complete radiographic image evaluations as per the program's set requirements per semester. Communicate with the radiography department staff regarding student progress when appropriate. Communicate with the College Clinical Coordinator regarding student problems and clinical progress. Attend Clinical Preceptor / Radiography department meetings at the College. Calculate and submit student semester grade as per the program's grading policy. Perform student Affective Domain evaluation. Ensure compliance with JRCERT and New Jersey Board policies regarding student competency process, including appropriate level of student supervision and protection of student privacy respecting on-site records. Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or AbilitiesShall be a radiographer with a minimum of two years full-time experience. AAS degree required, BA / BS degree desired. Shall be credentialed in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the State of New Jersey. Shall demonstrate proficiency in clinical instruction and student evaluation through experience and continuing education.
