Surgery - Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner

Now Hiring: Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) Location: Colorado Springs, CO Position Type: Locum or Contract Night Shifts Only We are actively seeking an experienced Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide overnight in-house coverage at a high-volume, trauma-focused hospital in Colorado. This is an exceptional opportunity for a confident NP with a solid background in neurosurgical care, trauma response, and first-assist surgical support. Schedule & Availability: Shift: 6:00 PM 6:00 AM (12-hour shifts) On-Site Call: Required must remain on site to respond to emergent neurosurgical cases Up to 20 shifts/month available Key Responsibilities: Respond to emergent neurosurgery consults and manage urgent cases overnight First assist in neurosurgical procedures (NP First Assist experience preferred) Manage inpatient and ICU neurosurgical patients Support new admissions and assist with continuity of care Function autonomously with limited physician coverage overnight Collaborate with ICU teams, radiology, and ED for critical patient coordination ️ Practice Snapshot: Patient Population: Adult (98%) Pediatric (2%) Case Mix: 90% Trauma-Focused Setting: 100% Hospital-Based Average Daily Volume (Per Physician): Surgeries: 3 Patients: Admissions: 3 5 ICU: 3 EMR: EPIC Resources: On-site lab & imaging Preferred Experience: General Adult & Trauma Neurosurgery Cerebrovascular procedures (Open & Endovascular) Aneurysm clipping, carotid/vertebral artery surgery Spinal surgery with/without instrumentation ICP monitor placement and critical care neurosurgical interventions Prior in-house night shift experience strongly preferred Requirements: Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) Required Active Colorado license or Compact License Required Proven experience in neurosurgery and hospital-based acute care Required Able to work independently overnight and manage neurosurgical emergencies Required Make a Real Impact: This role is ideal for a seasoned NP who thrives under pressure, has a passion for neurocritical care, and is confident providing expert-level care during overnight hours.
