Job Description

Job Title: Chief Development Officer - RemoteEssential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provides strategic oversight for the following functions: Development, Planning, and Engineering. • Oversee acquisition, development, and redevelopment opportunities of new sites on time and on budget. • Direct the work of the Real Estate Development team and coordinate development work with other development staff. • Oversee the competitive selection, bid, negotiation, and contracting for third-party services to produce quality results. • Produce timely and cost-effective performance from the project team, including architect/engineer, attorney, specialty consultants, and general contractor. • Supervise the overall development process from site selection and acquisition, securing land use and entitlement approvals, securing permits, completing construction documents, overseeing construction/rehab, completing lease-up and permanent loan conversion. • Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules and checklists with milestones for entitlements, financing, permitting, and construction. • Coordinate team responsibilities to meet deadlines and goals, fulfill reporting requirements and provide updates to the CEO and the Board Members. • Provide focused leadership and expertise to project design, construction, and cost containment. • Establish ongoing, constructive working relationships with peers, contractors, funders (equity and debt), regulatory entities, community leaders, and government partners. Qualifications and Requirements: • Minimum 15 years of real estate development and project management experience preferably. • Track record in developing successful real estate projects on budget and on time. • Education and/or extensive experience in construction, design, or engineering is strongly preferred. • Working knowledge of architectural plans, mechanical and building systems, new construction, and construction costs and site plans. • Proven capacity to supervise a talented team of real estate professionals and to get high performance from consultants. • Focused, efficient, and results-oriented. • Strong organizational skills and self-directed work habits. • Able to anticipate deadlines. • Able to review complex legal documents and identify key business points and manage multiple complex projects, often with overlapping deadlines. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • If you are tasked to drive as a part of this role, then it is required that you have a clean driving record and a current Driver's License that is not suspended or expired. • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
