Payroll Specialist (Multi-State and Multi-Entity) Payroll Specialist (Multi-State / Multi-Entity Focus) Location: Remote (U.S. Based) Pay Rate: $30$35 per hour Schedule: Full-time Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with strong experience managing multi-state, multi-entity, and multi-unit payroll operations in a fast-paced environment. This role will be responsible for processing complex payroll across multiple business entities and locations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, systems-savvy, and experienced working with large employee populations across multiple jurisdictions. Key Responsibilities: Process full-cycle payroll for employees across multiple states, business units, and legal entities Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll tax laws, wage regulations, and local jurisdiction requirements Manage payroll for multiple company entities and locations, ensuring accurate allocation of labor costs Maintain payroll records, employee data, tax withholdings, and direct deposit information across multiple systems or entities Review payroll reports for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner Coordinate with HR, Accounting, and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee classifications and payroll allocations across entities Prepare payroll reconciliations and assist with month-end close processes related to payroll Ensure proper setup and maintenance of employees working in multiple states or tax jurisdictions Assist with payroll tax filings, audits, and compliance reporting across multiple states Generate payroll reports and provide analysis for leadership as needed Qualifications: 35+ years of payroll experience in a complex, multi-state payroll environment Demonstrated experience handling multi-unit, multi-entity payroll structures Strong knowledge of state and local payroll tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions Experience processing payroll for large or geographically distributed workforces Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Paylocity, or similar platforms Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment Preferred Qualifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation Experience working in shared services or high-volume payroll environments Background supporting rapidly growing or multi-location organizations Benefits: LHH Recruitment Solutions benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
