Under direct or general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, all of these part-time positions assist in all aquatic programs, classes, and activities at City of Folsom run facilities (Steve Miklos Aquatic Center, Vista del Lago High School pool), while providing excellent customer service. Schedule & Pay Hours range from 5am - 11pm, 7 days per week Additional hours may be assigned as needed for outreach activities, training, and other misc. department activities. Hourly pay rate will depend on the candidate's experience. Duration: position is ongoing as long as needed and supported by the budget. Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all the duties listed. Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Provide surveillance of swimmers and guests during park hours, special events, and training sessions. Responds to emergency situations at facility. Enforces rules and regulations of city aquatic facilities. Advises aquatics management of unsafe and unsanitary conditions. Provides superior customer service to all guests by assisting in a polite and expedient manner. Performs daily routine chores and maintenance of facility to ensure an orderly and clean facility. Performing within Ellis certification standards while adhering to City of Folsom aquatic safety training guidelines. Administers and coordinates emergency first aid as necessary. Provide swimming instruction to participants ranging in age and ability from infants to adults. Other related duties as assigned. Front Office - Counter Staff Providing excellent customer service to guests. Assist with facility entry, program registration, answering phone calls, emails, and facility questions. Processing daily entry and program revenue, maintain a clean and orderly office. Other related as duties assigned. Snack Bar & Party Host Provides excellent guest service in delivery of snack bar and birthday party programs. Responsible for selling and serving food from the Poolside Cafe at the Steve Miklos Aquatic Center. Minor food preparation and cash handling skills required. Daily cleaning of snack bar, snack bar equipment, snack bar front counter, courtyard, and trash removal. Responsible for interacting with guest during birthday parties. Party Host duties will include: Provide excellent customer service. Set up party area. Assist in the serving of food and beverage. Assist parents or host of party with misc. party tasks. Clean party area and remove trash from party location and facility. Some assistance with inventory and acquiring of food may be required. Knowledge of Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training standards for incumbents in Lifeguard/Swim Instructor positions. Minimum Qualifications ALL POSITIONS:Experience None required, however individuals with lifeguard experience is desirable. Other Qualifications At least 15 years of age, with the ability to obtain a work permit if still in High School or under the age of 18. Available nights, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings. For Lifeguards: Successful completion of Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training (training courses available, see above). For Snack Bar Party Host: Upon hire must obtain California Food Handlers certification. Physical Requirements Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and crouching. Work is performed outdoors year-round. Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures for an extended period of time. Other Requirements These positions will be scheduled as needed. Candidates may be asked to work nights, weekends, and holidays. All successful candidates must pass a DOJ fingerprinting/back ground check before official hire. Schedule is limited to no more than 999 hours per fiscal year.
