Job Details Position: Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist (General & Orthopedic) — physician locum tenens, anesthesia job in New York Location: Syracuse, NY 13212 — Central New York; ideal for candidates searching New York anesthesiologist jobs or anesthesia jobs in Syracuse Assignment Length: 52 weeks (01/01/2026 – 12/31/2026) Shifts per Week: 5 Shift Duration: 8-hour days (7:30 AM – 3:30 PM) Hours per Week: 40 Estimated Weekly Compensation: $11,140 – $11,750 Completion Bonus: $30,000 for 520 hours worked within 17 consecutive weeks Housing Stipend: $165 daily Car Rental / Mileage Stipend: $400 per week Call: No in-house or pager call required — excellent work–life balance for locum anesthesiologists Case Types: General surgery, Orthopedic surgery (regional anesthesia and nerve blocks preferred) Care Team Model: MD supervision of CRNAs (4:1 CRNA-to-MD ratio) Anesthesia Rooms: 8 operating rooms Estimated Privileging Timeframe: ~14 days Job Requirements M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited college of medicine Completion of an approved residency in Anesthesiology Current, active New York physician license (must be licensed at time of application) ECFMG and FLEX as applicable for international medical graduates Proficiency in regional anesthesia/nerve blocks and CRNA supervision highly desired Minimum of 1 year post-training clinical experience required Board certification or fellowship is not required Willingness to work in a team-based, fast-paced surgical environment; experience with perioperative care and OR anesthesia workflow preferred Responsibilities Assist in directing and coordinating activities in the Anesthesia Department as a locum tenens anesthesiologist Provide perioperative medical management for patients undergoing anesthesia for surgery and procedures Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments and obtain/verify patient consent Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and perioperative plans with patients and families Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, including regional blocks when indicated Monitor patients’ physiological status and perform clinical interventions as needed Supervise CRNAs according to facility protocols (4:1 ratio; MDs do not do their own cases) — CRNA supervision experience preferred Support quality improvement initiatives, maintain accurate documentation, and promote patient safety Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and perioperative staff to ensure efficient OR flow and high-quality anesthesia care Why Choose This Locum Tenens Opportunity?
