Position Overview The Project Controls Specialist II serves as an intermediate-level professional within the Project Controls discipline. In this role, you will be responsible for initiating, managing, and completing routine aspects of project control assignments with general oversight. You will apply fundamental project controls principles and procedures to projects that are moderately complex and varied, while ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and forecasting. This position is typically assigned to multiple "Green I" level projects as defined by internal project management frameworks. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, solid working knowledge of project controls software, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners. Key Responsibilities Apply established project controls processes to monitor project performance, schedule, and cost objectives. Prepare and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring alignment with project scope and objectives. Track, analyze, and report on project performance metrics, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions. Assist with cost management activities including budget development, change management, accruals, and cost forecasting. Support project managers and leadership in developing project baselines and performance reports. Review, validate, and reconcile project data to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems. Utilize scheduling tools, financial systems, and reporting applications to manage project control deliverables. Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of project documentation and progress updates. Support compliance with corporate standards, procedures, and industry best practices. Provide input for process improvement initiatives within the project controls function. Required Qualifications Associate degree from a two-year college or university in Business, Finance, Project Management, Engineering, Technical, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of project controls experience; OR 5 years of project controls experience in lieu of a degree. Working knowledge of project controls principles and methodologies. Proficiency in project management/project controls concepts and computer applications, including scheduling software, financial tools, and spreadsheets. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Project Management, Engineering, Technical, or related field. Professional certifications such as PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, AACE-CCC, AACE-PSP, AACE-CEP, or AACE-EVP. Experience with software such as MS Project, Primavera (P6), Business Objects, Passport, MS Office Suite, Prolog, Visio, Powerplant, Emax, PeopleSoft. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Work Relationships Collaborates with various levels of personnel across multiple departments. Interfaces with external suppliers and vendors as part of project execution.
