Submit Your Application Position Description Job Title: Accounting Clerk - Rock and TruckingPosition Overview: The Controller will oversee the company's day-to-day financial operations, including Accounts Payable, account reconciliation, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, WIP schedule management, financial statement preparation, budgeting, and cash flow management. This role requires someone who is comfortable navigating complex construction environments, exercising sound judgment, and balancing compliance responsibilities with practical business needs. Key Responsibilities:Oversee the Accounts Payable function and ensure timely, accurate processing. Reconcile and balance all accounts monthly. Prepare, maintain, and present Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports and schedules. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Manage cash flow, including short- and long-term projections. Collaborate closely with project management and operations to ensure accurate job costing. Provide strategic financial insights, using practical business judgment to support decisions at the executive level. Maintain appropriate internal controls while working effectively within real-world operational constraints. Use discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive company and project information. Support external audits, banking, bonding, and insurance requirements. Compensation & Work Environment:Starting salary of $115,000 per year, depending on experience. Full-time, in-office position. Position Requirements Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 5+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry required; heavy civil/highway experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting. Experience with construction accounting systems such as Vista by Viewpoint, or similar. Ability to apply both technical accounting knowledge and practical decision-making in a fast-paced construction environment. Comfortable operating in settings with imperfect data, evolving processes, or gray areas inherent to construction work. High level of discretion, judgment, and ability to work closely with executive leadership. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with both field and office personnel.
