Collections Specialist

Collections Specialist Full Time M-F 8:00a-5:00p The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing customer accounts to ensure timely payment of invoices while maintaining positive customer relationships. This role works closely with sales, accounting, and operations to resolve billing issues, monitor credit risk, and support healthy cash flow. Key Responsibilities Monitor and manage assigned customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence regarding past-due invoices Review aging reports and prioritize collection activities Resolve billing discrepancies Coordinate with sales representatives to address account issues and payment delays Process and apply customer payments accurately in the accounting system Set up and maintain payment plans when appropriate Place accounts on credit hold and release holds per company policy Prepare documentation for disputes, chargebacks, and escalated collection efforts Maintain accurate customer account records and notes Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting or business preferred 2+ years of collections or accounts receivable experience required Strong communication and negotiation skills Ability to manage difficult conversations professionally and tactfully High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel Skills & Competencies Customer-focused with a firm but professional approach Ability to work cross-functionally with sales and operations Strong time management and prioritization skills Problem-solving mindset Confidentiality and professionalism About Snelling: Although Snelling has been known across the nation since 1951, our Mobile office is a locally owned and operated, award winning branch leveraging nearly 70 years of proven performance.
