Department Overview Silvus Technologies was acquired by Motorola Solutions in 2025 and is now part of its ecosystem of safety and security technologies. With deep roots in DARPA research, Silvus Technologies develops world-class advanced communications technologies that are reshaping the tactical communications landscape. From pure line-of-sight to extreme non-line-of-sight, Silvus radios form a self-healing, self-forming mesh network, enabling secure and reliable connectivity, including video and high-bandwidth data. Job Description THE OPPORTUNITY The Director of Business Development for Military Programs will report to the Vice President of Strategic Growth in Business Development. This role is pivotal in managing and driving long-term initiatives, focusing on multi-year pursuits for strategic military programs. The Director will cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders including end-users, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), prime contractors, and program management offices to advocate for Silvus solutions and secure significant, extended-duration contracts. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Capture: Lead the capture of large-scale, multi-year military programs. Relationship Building: Develop and sustain robust connections with all purchasing decision-makers on assigned programs. Requirements Shaping: Engage proactively with clients and partners to influence long-term program requirements, positioning Silvus's MN-MIMO technology as an essential element. Strategic Pursuits: Oversee the complete lifecycle of long-cycle pursuits, from inception through to contract award. Cross-Functional Teaming: Collaborate closely with the Market Development Executive to align strategies and with Account Sales for smooth program execution. Market Intelligence: Remain informed about industry trends, competitor movements, and funding priorities for effective capture strategy formulation. Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel is necessary to foster customer engagement and advance company objectives. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college; or High School Diploma/GED with at least 8 years of relevant experience. At least 5 years of experience in defense sales or business development, with a focus on military sectors. Proven ability to capture intricate, long-term Department of Defense (DoD) programs. Experience in building relationships with U.S. military acquisition offices and key contracting partners. Initialized experience leading all phases of business capture (whitepapers, proposals, RFI/RFP responses, and strategic positioning). Practical knowledge in product development, technology transitions, and marketing for military applications. Familiarity with conducting competitive product analysis using market research techniques. Strong communication and executive presentation skills. A thorough understanding of U.S. military organizational structure and acquisition processes. Solid knowledge of DoD funding and procurement cycles. Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contract requirements. Travel Requirements: 25-50% Compensation: $180,000 - $200,000 USD annual base salary with potential for incentive bonuses; total on-target earnings (OTE) may reach $220,000 - $260,000 USD annually.
