The Role The Lead Information Security Engineer specializing in AI will play a critical role in designing and advancing Lumen's AI security program. This position focuses on developing secure AI technologies that protect our company while ensuring responsible deployment at enterprise scale. As a technical authority, you will partner with various teams to set guiding principles and ensure alignment across security domains. Main Responsibilities AI Security Strategy Engineer and maintain AI security controls, ensuring end-to-end protection of AI/ML systems, including software components and data flows. Develop integrations for continuous discovery, inventory tracking, and policy enforcement in AI environments. Align AI security capabilities with Responsible AI and data governance policies, maintaining a focus on auditability. Capability Development Design and guide the creation of enhanced threat detection capabilities for AI, addressing issues like data poisoning and model misuse. Build solutions for detecting deepfakes and synthetic media across various media types to combat fraud and social engineering risks. Establish secure frameworks for AI security assistants to aid operational teams in threat interpretation and automated guidance. Design AI-powered agents capable of executing security tasks while ensuring proper governance and human oversight. Facilitate AI-driven security automation, including prioritization and risk scoring. Governance and Leadership Act as a senior advisor on AI governance and acceptable use, collaborating with architecture teams to embed security into development pipelines. Engage with offensive security teams to align adversarial testing with AI security frameworks. Provide executive-level reports on AI security posture and emerging risks. What We Look For in a Candidate Required Technical Expertise: AI & ML Security Deep understanding of AI/ML systems and their specific threats. Experience securing AI technologies in enterprise settings. Security Engineering Proven track record in implementing enterprise security solutions across diverse environments. Strong knowledge of vulnerability management and risk prioritization. General Requirements: 15+ years in cybersecurity with a focus on advanced threat domains. Demonstrated leadership in influencing security standards and strategy. A solid understanding of Responsible AI and data governance. Exceptional communication skills for conveying complex security concepts. Experience with large-scale enterprise operations across cloud and DevOps ecosystems. Compensation This position offers a competitive salary range based on location and experience. Minimums and maximums vary by state and individual pay is influenced by skills and background. Location Based Pay Ranges: $149,084 - $198,779 in several states including AL, AR, AZ, FL, and others. $156,539 - $208,718 in states such as CO, HI, and MI. $163,993 - $218,657 in states including CA, NY, and TX.
