This Job Is Open To This announcement is open to current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service and current DFAS VRA employees in the local commuting area and eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants. Duties Provides expert guidance to the DFAS Director, Principal Deputy Director (DIR/PDD), and staff personnel regarding mission related functions, action items, and critical developments regarding administrative aspects of various situations. Communicates the organization's mission, vision, and values to the team and ensures they are integrated into team goals, objectives, work plans, products, and services. Distributes assignments among team members in accordance with workflow, skill level, and specialization. Balances workload and makes adjustments to ensure full team participation, desired results are achieved, and timely accomplishment of the work. Reviews all correspondence and other materials prepared for the information and signature of the DIR/PDD for appropriate content, coordination, and format. Coordinates administrative matters that cross organizational lines, and ensures open communication between organizations while addressing a number of issues for which the incumbent has specific administrative oversight. Duties will be developmental in nature while performing below the full performance level. Qualifications GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS 12 Specialized experience is defined as: Performing a wide range of administrative duties, including providing logistical support such as managing schedules or coordinating travel for an office; or Reviewing official correspondence to ensure compliance with procedural and formatting requirements; or Tracking organizational tasks and deadlines to ensure actions are completed on time. GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS 13 Specialized experience is defined as: Providing leadership or guidance on administrative or operational support functions; or Providing direct administrative support to senior leadership on administrative and operational matters; or Coordinating complex administrative activities across multiple offices. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-12, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher in the Federal service. To be considered for the GS-13, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher in the Federal service. The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at these grade levels. Additional Information Moving expenses will not be paid. Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case-by-case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need. We may use this announcement to make a temporary promotion. For some positions, the temporary promotion may be made permanent without further competition. Selections are subject to restrictions resulting from the DoD Program for Stability of Civilian Employment. As a condition of employment, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which we'll evaluate whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
