Job Description

Under the guidance of the Manager of Residential Services, this role is tasked with the coordination of The Arc's Life Sharing Services and Supported Living Services, as well as providing support in managing the operations of community-based homes, commonly referred to as group homes. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that the various services offered are effectively aligned with the needs of the individuals served, fostering an environment that promotes their well-being and personal growth.The core responsibility of this position is to empower individuals to achieve the highest possible levels of independence, whether they are at home, engaged in work, participating in community activities, or residing in a Family Provider setting. This involves not only facilitating access to necessary resources and support but also advocating for the rights and preferences of those served. By focusing on individual strengths and aspirations, the role aims to create a supportive atmosphere that encourages self-sufficiency and personal fulfillment.Additionally, the position emphasizes the importance of providing meaningful and inclusive life experiences for all individuals involved. This includes developing and implementing programs and activities that promote social engagement, skill development, and community integration. By fostering connections and opportunities for participation, the role contributes to a holistic approach to care that values each person's unique journey and enhances their quality of life.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Master's Degree or above from an accredited college or university and one year of work experience working directly with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism is required; orA Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience working directly with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism is required; orAn Associate's degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and four years working directly with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism. "Working directly with individuals with an intellectual disability or autism" means that the program specialist's work history must include face to face interaction with individuals. Work experience that did not include such interaction (such as administrative work) may not be counted, even if the work was related to indirect support of individuals.Years of work may be cumulative.
