Job Description

A rewarding opportunity is available for a registered nurse with medical-surgical experience to support a busy acute inpatient medical unit. The 32-bed unit focuses on general medical specialties and prioritizes patient safety amid diverse and complex cases, including respiratory conditions, renal diseases, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal issues, dementia, altered mental status, and infectious diseases. Key responsibilities include managing multiple medications safely and efficiently, performing IV insertions, managing CPAP/BiPAP equipment, and caring for feeding tubes and wound vacs. Candidates must be willing and able to manage a patient load of up to eight patients when necessary, although the standard ratio is typically lower. Flexibility to float to other medical specialty areas within the unit is also required, ensuring multidisciplinary support across inpatient care. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Active RN license with medical-surgical acute inpatient experience required Current CEU documentation must be provided Proven skills in IV insertion and CPAP/BiPAP management Experience with PICC/central line care and dialysis fistula management is preferred Competence in feeding tube and wound vac care required; epidural/PCA pump experience preferred Ability to adapt to fluctuating patient assignment demands, including occasionally managing up to eight patients Location: Situated in a community-oriented city, this position offers the chance to work at a well-established medical facility providing comprehensive acute care services. This is a contract role offering exposure to a fast-paced clinical environment that values advanced nursing skills and adaptability.
