Archaeologist/NHPA Specialist ID: NPSSER-009-007 Location: Atlanta Program: NPS Wage/Hr: $40.00 Hours/Week: 25 Minimum Age: 55 For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. This opportunity applies to applicants legally eligible to work in the United States. Qualifications: MA/MS Degree in Archaeology with minimum additional experience of 15 year(s) in federal cultural resources compliance Project management, historical architecture, experience with Secretary of Interior?s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook Duties: Enrollee will support Southeast Regional Office on storm recovery compliance activities related to archaeological, historical, and traditional cultural properties. Enrollee will provide compliance assistance to multiple parks with disaster recovery, as needed and time allows. Provide authoritative recommendations on structuring and managing NHPA compliance work pending to complete disaster recovery repairs to a variety of approved projects within the disaster recovery program to include: graveyards, seawalls, historic structures, debris removal, trails, etc. 20% Work with regional section 106 coordinator and SER Program Manager to develop a fluvial assessment for the purposes of planning Section 110 and 106 survey work. 20% Assist with the development of a Programmatic Agreement with SHPO to define areas of major cultural resources concerns related to flood recovery work and prepare correspondence with State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO). 20% Review of NEPA analysis and other cultural resource related reports prepared by third parties, including NPS contractors. 20% Leverage and engage archaeological staffing from within and outside NPS to scale compliance field work and consultations for recovery work pending. 20% Other: Overnight travel: 5 to 12 trips over the 52-week timeframe. Air travel anticipated: 5 to 12 three-day trips Required Safety Gear: PPE such as hardhats and construction yellow vests, possibly radio will be provided for site visits Physical requirements: Work is generally performed in an office setting, with occasional field work visits.
