Position Overview: This is a professional, entry-level supervisory position based in West Palm Beach courthouse with primary responsibility for staff performing operations duties. Reports directly to the Northern Division Operations Manager and will serve as backup which may involve overall supervisory responsibilities and duties for the entire Northern Division, which encompasses Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Fort Pierce. Representative Duties: Works closely with the Divisional Operations Manager to assure the efficient, consistent, and timely functioning of the Fort Lauderdale Divisional Office. It is intended that the Operations Supervisor become sufficiently familiar with all aspects of operations in the Northern Division to be able to change their primary focus as needed. Regularly coordinates and consults with other members of district operations supervisory team to ensure consistency of work product and uniform expectations district wide. In conjunction with other operations supervisors, develops, monitors, and revises work assignments to ensure adequate coverage as well as the completion of work related to CM/ECF within established standards. Prioritizes and disseminates workload and tasks for staff to meet the operational needs and objectives district wide. Provides back-up support when necessary. Coordinates and communicates standardized office and operating procedures with Clerk's Office and Chambers' staff, members of the bar and public. Important Dates Opening: 12/29/2025 Closing: Open until filled First Review: 1/12/2026 U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida There are eighteen authorized United States District Judges in the Southern District of Florida. The Court is comprised of United States District Judges, Senior United States District Judges, and United States Magistrate Judges. The district spans a geographical area that encompasses nine counties - its southernmost includes Monroe County and its northernmost includes Indian River County. The Clerk's Office maintains its headquarters in downtown Miami and includes four divisional courthouses 2026-CLK-06 Operations Supervisor (West Palm Beach) Page 2 of 4 Conducts meetings with staff; keeps staff informed of policies and procedures and information necessary to the performance of their duties. Assures equity among staff in terms of performance standards, rating techniques of employees, and work performed. Develops or accepts recommendations from staff to increase productivity and/or quality. Reconciles and prepares statistical reports on a regular basis in coordination with Court Statistical Analyst and Data Quality Analyst. Identifies training needs, develops, and administers training plans tailored to meet operational needs. Evaluates the performance of staff through regular review of work, regular feedback, and formal performance evaluations. Participates in recruitment and selection efforts. Assists in hearing and resolving complaints, grievances, and/or disputes. Effects disciplinary actions when required. Reviews existing procedural and resource materials, including manuals, recorded policies and procedures, continuing education materials, etc. Provides CM/ECF support to staff, chambers personnel and members of the bar. Provides support and training on other automated internal programs including but not limited to JMS, Appear Speech, Civil/Criminal Case Assignment, CM/ECF Case Assignment, HRMIS, Adobe; TRIM; MS Office; and CEO. Trouble shoots problems with CM/ECF and may test and evaluate new releases. Serve as a resource to chambers, attorneys, and the public regarding CM/ECF. Assist with training attorneys on CM/ECF as needed. In the absence of Divisional Operations Manager, provides direct supervision and guidance to operations staff; coordinates and supervises all financial functions, reviews and coordinates all jury operations, coordinates and supervises the usage of District Judge and Magistrate Judge Courtroom Deputy Clerks and Relief Courtroom Deputies; monitors all facility or outside agency related activities and advises of effects on Clerk's Office functionality. Perform other duties as assigned by the Divisional Operations Manager or Chief Deputy Clerk for Operations. The specialized work experience should include progressively responsible administrative, technical, professional supervisory or managerial experience that provided an opportunity to gain skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships, the ability to exercise mature judgment, and a knowledge of the basic concepts, principles, and the theories of management and the ability to understand the managerial policies applicable to the judiciary and the Clerk's Office. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of the terms and processes used for court calendars and dockets. Skill in preparing documents, compiling data, and preparing statistical reports using the applicable software and databases. Knowledge of local jury plan, administrative directives, and other policies and procedures regarding the administration of jury panels, as well as the rights and responsibilities of jurors. Skill in developing the interpersonal work relationships needed to lead a team of employees The ability to exercise mature judgment Bachelor's degree in a related field. Thorough knowledge of the basic concepts, principles, and theories of management and the ability to understand the managerial policies applicable to the Clerk's office. Desirable Characteristics: The successful candidate should be mature, highly organized, poised, and demonstrate initiative. The candidate must possess tact, good judgment, and always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. The candidate must also be able to meet the public professionally and courteously, work harmoniously with others in a team-based organization, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The ability to balance the demands of varying workload responsibilities and deadlines are a must. Organizational Relationship: This position is assigned to the Clerk's Office and reports to the Divisional Operations Manager. Therefore, candidates may be asked to provide verbal or written statements about criminal history prior to receiving a conditional job offer. The selected candidate will be subject to a criminal background check and a technical fingerprint check through the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division database as a condition of employment. Employment will be considered provisional until a background check is completed.
