Telecom Circuit Activation and Testing Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Telecom Circuit Activation and Testing Specialist to join our team. In this exciting role, you will be instrumental in the supervision of equipment installation and service order activation. You will work collaboratively with both internal and external teams, managing your schedule to implement network maintenance events effectively. Your responsibilities will include: Conducting formal acceptance testing for products and services according to program requirements. Implementing and evaluating installation and testing standards for telecommunications equipment, including TDM, PDH, SDH, SONET, and IP network architecture. Troubleshooting IP network configurations with an intermediate level of experience (CCNA certification or equivalent experience). Understanding data protocols such as TCP/IP, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EIGRP, HSRP, IS-IS, LDP, PIM, MSDP, and Ethernet. Engaging with customers and coordinating with Telco providers and field technicians. Testing, troubleshooting, and validating communication circuits to meet IEEE, ITU, TIA, and ISO specifications. Collaborating with engineering teams to address implementation and acceptance issues. Executing Maintenance Request (MR) activities to align with program requirements. Facilitating service disconnects according to customer requests through established processes. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 2 years of experience. Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of 8 years of related experience may apply. Experience in Networking is essential. Preferred 3+ years of experience with SONET equipment and Optical Circuits, specifically Cisco ONS-15310, ONS-15454, and Fujitsu Flashwave 4500/9500 platforms. Eligibility to obtain a security clearance is required. Preferred Additional Skills: Thorough understanding of NAS Operations ticket management and scheduled maintenance processes and procedures. Technical proficiency with Gigabit Ethernet/Fast Ethernet, DS1/T1, DS3, VT1.5, VTV, STS1, STSV, OC3-OC192 circuit types, and familiarity with the associated provisioning and acceptance testing processes. Knowledge of trouble tickets, ticket management, and Change Management processes is highly desirable. Experience with Cisco Prime Optical (CPO), Cisco Transport Controller (CTC), and Fujitsu NetSmart. Familiarity with MetaSolv and DICE is preferred. MEF-CECP certification would be an asset.
