Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a supportive environment that emphasizes best practices and exceptional customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, relevant nursing practice acts, and regulatory requirements. Acute care settings include medical units, surgical units, emergency departments, intensive care, childbirth centers, pediatric units, operating rooms, and specialized labs. Essential Responsibilities: Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term goals. Apply new knowledge and skills from ongoing education to improve patient care and promote cost-saving practices. Make patient care assignments based on nurse expertise, patient acuity, and technical needs. Deliver excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues, embodying core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and courage. Communicate proactively to manage patient and provider expectations, ensuring a positive experience through patient rounding and timely responses. Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise, using electronic devices appropriately, and supporting healthcare students. Prioritize safety for patients, guests, staff, and self by adhering to safety protocols, reporting near misses, and following HIPAA and national safety standards. Engage in professional growth through leadership opportunities, certifications, advanced degrees, and shared governance. Foster teamwork by motivating and guiding colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and mentoring others. Maintain confidentiality and comply with organizational policies and regulatory guidelines. Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or, if unaccredited, a minimum of five years acute care nursing experience. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in accelerated MSN programs accepted. Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications required or obtained upon hire. Licensure: Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board. Work Shift: First shift, full-time, approximately 36 hours per week. This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest area of the United States.
