Job Description

Please note this is a Part-time position: 2-2.5 hours per day.Objective: The Part-Time Lunch Aide assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment during student lunch periods. This role involves supervising students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground, assisting with meal distribution, ensuring proper behavior, and promoting a positive, respectful atmosphere. Typically, this position is part-time during school lunch hours. Essential Functions: Supervise students in the cafeteria, playground, or designated lunch areas to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Assist younger students with opening food containers, using utensils, and cleaning up after meals. Monitor food lines and help maintain an orderly flow of students. Encourage good table manners, cooperation, and respectful interactions. Respond calmly and effectively to student issues or conflicts; report serious concerns to appropriate staff. Clean tables, chairs, and floors before and after lunch periods; dispose of trash properly. Assist custodial staff with maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. Ensure compliance with school policies and safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Professionalism: To be punctual and be available during official working hours. To comply with AAMA policies, standards, rules, regulations, and procedures. To take precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities. To participate responsibly in the school's improvement initiatives. To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities. To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff. To provide and accept evaluative feedback professionally. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about school personnel. Required Skills & Competencies: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills and a positive, cooperative attitude. Active Listening. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to work effectively with students. Ability to communicate effectively. Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily indoors (cafeteria) and occasionally outdoors (playground). Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs.). Exposure to noise and varying temperatures depending on location. Required Education and Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent Required: Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) Required: Prior experience working with children. Ability to supervise and manage groups of students in a positive, fair, and consistent manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Dependability, patience, and a caring attitude toward children.
