The Onboarding & Growth team within Institutional Client Lifecycle manages the complete onboarding and activation journey for all Coinbase Institutional products. This includes everything from the initial application and KYC/KYB processes to provisioning and initial activation across our offerings. Our team is crucial in ensuring that leading institutions are onboarded onto our products quickly and seamlessly. You will tackle complex engineering challenges across various onboarding workflows, data validation, document review, and third-party integrations, while increasingly incorporating ML and AI for automation. You’ll take charge of the domain by collaborating closely with product and cross-functional teams to design and deliver exceptional onboarding experiences and drive measurable customer activation for the broader business. Key Responsibilities: Lead the engineering teams building critical systems that influence the future of institutional products in the crypto space. Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leaders to turn our vision into an actionable roadmap. Break down intricate projects into manageable phases and guide the iterative design and implementation processes. Serve as a knowledgeable technical voice in the team, participating in foundational architectural decisions and promoting a culture of quality and operational excellence. Work with Product and Engineering teams to ensure complex, distributed systems are effectively delivered and maintained at scale. Mentor your team members, fostering their growth within the organization. Collaborate with the talent acquisition team to scout for outstanding engineers who resonate with Coinbase's values and can significantly contribute to our projects. Own and enhance processes that ensure engineering quality and adherence to our engineering SLAs. Qualifications: Minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering. At least 1 year of experience in an engineering management role. A knack for balancing long-term objectives with immediate priorities. Proven experience in creating, delivering, and operating scalable multi-tenant distributed systems. Hands-on capability when needed, whether that involves writing/reviewing code, creating technical documents, participating in on-call duties, or troubleshooting issues. A strong passion for building an open financial system that unites people worldwide. Preferred Skills: Experience scaling a company rapidly (for example, growing from a small team to hundreds of engineers). Familiarity with blockchain technologies (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum). Proficient in programming languages and frameworks such as Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres. Experience developing financial, high-reliability, or security-oriented systems. Knowledge of crypto, including practical experience with onchain transactions and interactions with dApps or blockchain services. Job #: P75802 Target annual base salary for this position: $218,025 - $256,500 USD, not including potential equity and bonuses.
