The American Heart Association has a fantastic opportunity for a Director of Employee Benefits at our National Center office in Dallas, TX. This position is hybrid, requiring in-office attendance 1-2 days a week as necessary. Responsibilities We are searching for a progressive and strategic Benefits Leader to craft and execute a comprehensive benefits strategy that aligns with our organization's objectives and meets the diverse needs of our team. This role encompasses all facets of benefits administration, from health and welfare plans to retirement programs, leave policies, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in benefits design, vendor management, employee engagement, and team leadership. You will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors to create a top-tier benefits experience for our employees. Key Responsibilities include: Strategic Benefits Management Design and implement a long-term, data-driven benefits strategy that reflects our company values and objectives. Conduct competitive benchmarking and market research to keep our benefits offerings attractive. Drive annual benefits renewals, negotiate with vendors, and enhance plan designs. Analyze utilization, cost trends, and employee satisfaction data to inform decisions. Collaborate across departments to align offerings with company policies and workforce needs. Vendor & Program Oversight Evaluate, select, and manage benefits vendors and brokers for quality and cost-efficiency. Conduct regular business reviews with vendors to ensure alignment with service-level agreements. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local benefits laws. Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to programs. Maintain accurate records and disclosures in line with compliance standards. Employee Experience & Communication Lead the annual open enrollment process, including planning and execution of communications. Develop employee education initiatives to enhance understanding and participation in benefits programs. Act as a subject matter expert for complex benefits inquiries. Leadership & Team Development Mentor and grow a high-performing team of benefits professionals. Encourage a culture of collaboration, improvement, and professional development. Oversee strategic initiatives while delegating operational tasks effectively. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human resources or relevant work experience. At least three (3) years of experience in comprehensive health, welfare, retirement, and related benefit programs. Three (3) years of experience in supervisory roles, leading and mentoring benefits teams. Proficient knowledge of HRIS systems, particularly Workday. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of leadership in a collaborative manner. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent change management and project management abilities. Ambitious, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and knowledgeable in analytics applications such as Google Docs. Proven ability to analyze business challenges, finding root causes, and formulating effective solutions. Preferred Experiences: Experience in a non-profit environment. Familiarity with Workday HRIS. HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, CBP, or CEBS. Compensation & Benefits The American Heart Association invests in its personnel.
