Job Title: Quality TechnicianJob Description The Quality Technician will work on the engineering team and support engineers with non-routine engineering development activities. This role involves evaluating returned products from customers, providing expertise in inspection methods, and ensuring the correct use of metrology and calibration. The technician will support the inspection of incoming components, materials, in-process inspection of fabricated parts and assemblies, and final inspection before shipments. The Quality Technician will oversee and lead activities within the Quality Lab, ensuring proper use and calibration of measurement instruments. Responsibilities Participate in the development of inspection plans for receiving, in-process, and final inspections. Lead and conduct inspections as necessary to support quality lab operations and overall operations requirements. Provide training and guidance to inspector staff and operations personnel regarding the correct use and care of metrological instrumentation, storage, and maintenance. Inspect metrology for cleanliness, status of calibration, and general good operation. Guide and make recommendations regarding the sourcing of new metrology and methods for ongoing improvement of technology. Manage rejections of material directly with the supplier, including NC and CA reporting requirements as necessary. Oversee calibration processes. Essential Skills Experience with PPAP documentation. Proficiency in GD&T and reading/interpreting engineering drawings. Experience with measurement instruments such as CMMs (Mitutoyo) and/or calibration devices. Familiarity with ISO standards. First Article Inspection experience. Experience in documentation and records control. Additional Skills & Qualifications An Associate's Degree in Engineering is nice to have. Experience with Optical Comparator is beneficial. Work Environment The position is based at the Kalamazoo facility, which is a satellite operation with 50-60 employees. The Quality Team consists of 2 Quality Engineers, 2 Quality Technicians, and Quality Inspectors. The role involves working in the quality lab, directly supporting the engineering team, with direction from 2 Quality Engineers. Standard work hours range from 40-45 hours per week. The company provides end-to-end contract manufacturing and assembly of medical devices and components, registered with the U.S. FDA and Health Canada. Employees receive 10 days PTO and 6 standard holidays. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
