Job InformationTitle: Human Resources Specialist - Operations Department: Administration Position Classification/Category: Non-exempt Location: Corporate Reports To: HR Manager - Operations Direct Reports: None Job Summary: The Human Resources Specialist - Operations will touch all areas on the HR Operations team to include HRIS updates, benefits, wellness program, leave of absence, worker's compensation, and other HR programs. This position will not only work alongside all team members but will also act as backup for all positions as needed. A large portion of the daily tasks will be comprised of HRIS duties but also include other areas within HR Operations. Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required. Experience: 1-2 years' experience in human resources is preferred. Professional License: None Required Certifications: HR Certifications preferred. Minimum Qualifications Very high attention to detail and proficiency with technology (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Must be a self-starter with excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to always maintain confidentiality of information/records Proven ability to work independently as well as be part of a team Key ResponsibilitiesEngages in all work areas within the scope of the HR Operations team including HRIS updates, benefits, wellness program, leave of absence, worker's compensation and other HR programs. Manages all related HR software systems, keeps up with changes, and works with the Information Technology Department to maintain all HR related database programs and systems. Audits procedures to ensure the integrity of all the supporting systems as needed. Completes data entry in HRIS to include but not limited to new hire profiles, separations, transfers and promotions, job descriptions, etc. Maintains access permissions for all users in HRIS. Approves employee requests for updates on the company's HRIS. Completes month end reporting and other reports as needed. Updates employee photos in HRIS. Answers frequently asked questions from employees about standard policies, benefits, etc. referring more complex questions to appropriate HR staff members. Participates in off-boarding process by communicating important separation information. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records to include regularly scheduled audits to ensure accuracy of HR data. To include creation of electronic files at hire and retention of files upon separation. Closes FMLA claims to include correspondence with employees, calculating benefit premiums owed, and filing electronic documents. Assists with worker's compensation process as needed to include contacting employees regarding needed follow-ups and return to work. Assists in ensuring compliance with HR state, federal and local regulations along with other applicable employment laws. Participates in department projects as needed. And other duties as assigned.
