As a Senior Claims Executive - Construction Defect, you will be part of the Complex Claims Unit (CCU), which specializes in managing claims related to construction defects, bodily injury, and property damage. This role is designed for individuals with expertise in handling complex claims involving contract analysis and coverage issues across multiple insurance years. You will focus specifically on latent property damage claims associated with construction defects. Key Responsibilities: Manage medium to high exposure accounts with a focus on timely outcomes and detailed claim knowledge. Provide proactive communication to customers and business partners regarding claims management. Respond to customer inquiries with superior service. Review and analyze complex policies and their coverage parts. Draft and articulate clear and concise coverage positions. Conduct thorough investigations related to claims and lawsuits. Oversee litigation processes, including planning and implementing liability resolution strategies. Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages, providing recommendations to leadership. Pursue risk transfer opportunities with other parties and insurers. Engage in complex negotiations while effectively articulating coverage and liability positions. Participate in mediations and trials as required. Manage expenses, reserves, and financial transactions efficiently. Maintain current claims metrics consistently. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred; J.D. or CRIS designation is a plus. 3+ years of experience in general liability claims handling; experience in construction defect claims is preferred. Proven track record in handling affirmative/defensive risk transfers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Capable of presenting evaluations effectively in roundtable settings. Exceptional customer service and active listening skills. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Proficient negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Familiarity with MS Office suite, particularly Word and Excel. Active Property & Casualty State Insurance Adjuster license preferred. We may consider a candidate for the position of Senior Claim Representative or Claim Consultant based on experience. Additional Information: This position allows for Hybrid or Remote work arrangements. Candidates living near our office locations (Hartford, CT; Lake Mary, FL; San Antonio, TX; Naperville, IL; Scottsdale, AZ) are expected to work in the office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Remote candidates should be prepared to come into the office as needed. For remote roles, candidates must maintain high-speed broadband internet service with specific technical requirements as outlined. Compensation: The annualized base pay for this role ranges from $62,400 to $127,200, influenced by factors such as performance and experience level. This base salary is part of The Hartford's comprehensive total compensation package, which may also include bonuses, long-term incentives, and other forms of recognition.
