The Position: Take switching orders and perform switching on 480 volt - 35.5k volt equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on feeder breakers, switches, MCC gear, transformers and perform baker testing on motors, install grounds on equipment, pull and test oil samples. Pm batteries/UPS, perform ground wire inspections. This role will be under the direct guidance of a higher-level power distribution technician. This role must be able to work safely around electrical power equipment and cabling; identify test equipment; execute visual inspections and make simple electrical connections. Fabricate and install rigid, aluminum, E.M.T., plasti-bond and P.V.C. conduit Must have the ability to use mechanical and 2" - 4" hydraulic benders Must be able to fabricate and install conduit supports Must have the ability to install wire and cable by either hand or machine in cable trays Must perform MCC and switchgear work Must be able to perform troubleshooting on energized motor controls Can fabricate and install breakers and fuses, cable trays, batteries, battery charger, buss duct, junction boxes, tagging, term, motors, and transformers Can size thermal-overloads, breakers, and fuses Able to terminate motors, transformers, stress cones and cable splicing Understand the proper use of hydraulic tools Can read blueprints and national electric code requirements Knowledgeable in the use of electrical equipment testers including V.O.M., AMP meter and 1000-volt insulation tester Knowledgeable in communication and applicable electrical OSHA rules and regulations SafetyHave demonstrated competency in the following areas: Read and interpret arc flash labels and electrical warning signs. Properly fill out a JSA/JHA (Job Hazzard Analysis/Job Safety Analysis Proper selection of voltage measuring/indicating devices Properly Don Safety and Arc Flash PPE Implementation of a Lockout and Tag out. NFPA 70E Certified ExperienceHave the following education or industry experience: Formally trained as an electrician or IE Technician with 2+ years of industry experience or 3+ years of industry experience as an electrician or technician. Skills & QualificationsAbility to adjust to changing field conditions Read and interpret basic electrical control schematics and diagrams Theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem identification and evaluation. Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical testing procedures Proven ability to Identifying and explain purpose of the following basic test equipment and accessories: Requirements:TWIC card - (Transportation Worker Identification Credential); Go to TWIC website for more information Ability to meet the cut score on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Written Skill Assessment. Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol test and applicable background checks. Minimum 4 years craft-specific experience.
