POSITION OVERVIEW We are in search of a Medical Lead with proven experience in early-stage pharmaceutical or biotech settings to provide medical leadership across our extensive biologics portfolio. This role expects an exceptional generalist with collaborative leadership skills, capable of leveraging external therapeutic area experts and key opinion leaders to ensure scientific rigor and operational efficiency. You will represent the trusted medical voice both internally and externally, bridging clinical development and medical affairs as we advance our pipeline. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Development & Multi-Program Medical Oversight: Provide medical oversight and strategic input for clinical trials in oncology, rheumatology, and infectious diseases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft clinical development plans and protocols. Serve as the medical monitor for trials, ensuring patient safety and data integrity. Expert Network & KOL Management: Build and manage relationships with therapeutic experts and clinical consultants. Establish connections with key opinion leaders, coordinate scientific advisory boards, and engage consultants as necessary. Medical Affairs Leadership: Develop and lead medical affairs capabilities in alignment with company growth. Create scientific communication materials and oversee investigator-initiated studies. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership: Work with regulatory affairs to uphold scientific rigor in submissions. Collaborate closely with clinical operations to ensure projects align with medical objectives. External Engagement & Representation: Represent XBiotech at scientific conferences and engage with healthcare professionals and patient advocacy groups to understand unmet medical needs. QUALIFICATIONS Required: MD or equivalent medical degree with an active medical license. 5-7 years of clinical medicine and/or pharma industry experience. Strong understanding of biologics development and regulatory pathways. Experience in clinical trial design and execution across multiple programs. Preferred: Board certification in internal medicine or relevant specialty. Experience in startup biotech environments.
