The Director of Accounting provides essential administrative, clerical, and operational leadership to the Accounting Department and the accounting accountants and volunteers. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of departmental processes by managing documentation, scheduling department calendar/meetings, reconciling monthly financial data, and facilitating communication with internal teams and external partners. The specialist maintains high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and organization while contributing to timely financial reporting and overall departmental effectiveness. While aligning with the mission and keeping with the values and philosophies of the Foundation as stated in the Foundation by-laws. This position is an hourly position and will sometimes require execution of their duties outside normal work hours.Job Duties and Responsibilities:· Assist with department scheduling, meeting preparation, and calendar coordination.· Support internal and external communications on behalf of the accounting team.· Track and manage key departmental deadlines, such as AP cycles, reporting schedules, and annual filings.· Monitor office inventory for the accounting team (forms, supplies, etc.) and place orders as needed.· Identify opportunities to streamline administrative processes and improve organizational efficiency.· Special accounting projects as needed· Manage current and prior year file cabinets organized and prepare as necessary for following yearEducation and Experience:· A BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent is preferred· Minimum High school graduate with 3 year’s administrative work experienceMinimum Job Requirements:· Ability to work with other staff effectively and efficiently· Proficient computer skills on MS Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point· Proficient in QuickBooks and QuickBooks class tracking preferred· Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action· Ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Accounting Department· Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with all employees, vendors, and volunteers· Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information· Ability to learn, understand and follow all Foundation policies and procedures· Read, write, speak, and understand the English language· Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours· Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards staff and constituents· Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer· Anticipated 40 hour/week in-office position (with occasional remote work possible) and occasional overtime required· Complete assigned projects to ensure compliance and accuracy
