Global Packaging Category Manager

What You Will Do The Global Packaging Category Manager will oversee all procurement activities related to the packaging category and lead cross-functional initiatives for supplier qualifications. The role involves securing cost reductions across the packaging category, developing global strategies, and aligning with regional counterparts for effective execution. Your Responsibilities Include: Develop and implement global strategies for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure strategic communication with suppliers. Analyze market trends and risk factors to proactively manage and enhance category performance. Conduct cost structure analysis to drive innovation, sustainability, and overall cost savings. Lead design for excellence initiatives by performing product teardowns to uncover value opportunities. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to validate cost models and benchmark supplier pricing. Facilitate value engineering workshops aimed at cost reduction across packaging categories. Work closely with R&D and Product Development to implement design for excellence and manufacturability principles early in the design phase. Negotiate complex contracts, including multi-year agreements and performance-based incentives. Create and manage supplier scorecards, conducting performance reviews focused on cost, quality, service, and innovation. What Makes You an Ideal Candidate 5+ years of experience in strategic procurement. Ability to devise impactful procurement strategies. Experience within the assigned packaging category is preferred. Strong leadership skills and stakeholder management capabilities. Effective supplier relationship and management skills. Proficient in market analysis and supply chain knowledge. Your Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Packaging Science, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in packaging procurement, category management, or packaging engineering. A solid understanding of packaging design, materials, and manufacturing processes. Proven success in leading product teardowns and design for excellence initiatives. Experience in regulated environments is preferred. Travel Requirements Ability to travel regularly, with overnight stays of up to 25%. Occasional regional and global travel may also be necessary.
