Job Description Summary Reporting to the Sr. Manager, North America Inbound Transportation, the Manager Inbound Transportation, Transportation Optimization helps drive efficiencies, predictability, and reliability on inventory movements/shipments into our distribution centers, sterilizers, and plants. Assists in implementing and owns the monitoring of inbound processes by leveraging various tools including the use of BD Control Tower. Evaluates the effectiveness of inbound operations while proactively mitigating service issues. Support the Sr. Manager Inbound Transportation to continually evolve transportation inbound plans to meet business, functional and customer requirements and meet cost objectives. Partners with businesses and all elements of ISC in a balanced approach between service and cost to meet objectives. Become a maker of possible with us.  Manager Inbound Transportation, Transportation Optimization Reporting to the Sr. Manager, North America Inbound Transportation, the Manager Inbound Transportation, Transportation Optimization helps drive efficiencies, predictability, and reliability on inventory movements/shipments into our distribution centers, sterilizers, and plants.  Assists in implementing and owns the monitoring of inbound processes by leveraging various tools including the use of BD Control Tower.  Evaluates the effectiveness of inbound operations while proactively mitigating service issues.  Support the Sr. Manager Inbound Transportation to continually evolve transportation inbound plans to meet business, functional and customer requirements and meet cost objectives.  Partners with businesses and all elements of ISC in a balanced approach between service and cost to meet objectives.  OBJECTIVES: Analyzes Inbound shipment lane data for cost to win and service performance opportunities Executes and monitors operating plans in support of the Inbound strategy Holds carriers/suppliers accountable for meeting service level agreements via day-to-day communications and via participating in regularly scheduled business reviews Develops processes within BD Control Tower and/or other means to actively monitor effectiveness of operating plans while proactively identifying risk to mitigate and/or opportunities to capitalize upon Assists in validating Control Tower data accuracy, act as a liaison to the control tower team and the carrier base when data integrity issues arise Partners with Plants, Sterilizers, Distribution centers and Carriers to define and implement inbound transportation solutions Utilizes BD Excellence methodologies to continuously improve inbound logistics efficiency, reliability, and cost performance. Accountable for monitoring inbound performance including the maintenance of the operational and cost and service inbound KPI’s/Metrics Acts as point of escalation for addressing performance issues with transportation services with our internal customers and carrier partners.  Helps identify root cause and implements corrective actions Efficient management and execution of inbound transportation operations to support BD business specific requirements. i.e., Backorder reduction, OTIF performance, etc. Assists in driving cross-functional strategic initiatives to improve transportation operations efficiency and overall cost to serve Support the Sr. Manager, North America Inbound Transportation with domestic and international inbound transportation financial forecasting and budgeting Support the Plants with lead time reduction solutions and implementation. Partner with the carrier base to develop a sustainable process/system to support this initiative. Provide MCS-150 DOT filings as necessary for BD over the road vehicles Travel required- 30% domestic only EDUCATION: BS/BA required, preferably in Supply Chain EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years in Transportation Management or associated Supply Chain discipline Demonstrated experience in third party supplier (carrier) management PROFICIENCES: Advanced analytics and system savviness, preferably SAP, JDE and Blue Yonder Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with proven ability to navigate and drive initiatives within a matrixed environment Self-directed with the ability to delivery time dependent results At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
