Details Acute care hospital Med/Surg unit with telemetry and step-down (IMC) capabilities 32-bed unit with a daily census of approximately 17-18 patients Patient population includes COPD, pneumonia, AFib RVR, DKA, CIWA, and cardiology cases Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 Med/Surg, 1:2–1:4 IMC, 1:1–1:3 ICU/step-down RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips Respiratory therapy equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators, with RT coverage 22 hours/day, 7 days/week Two nurse aides scheduled per shift Charting system is Cerner (transitioning to Epic) 12-hour night shifts, 5:00 PM – 5:30 AM Flex weekend and flex holiday scheduling required Requirements Active WI or compact RN license required by start date Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required ICU experience is required for this position Proficiency in phlebotomy, IV starts, EKG interpretation, telemetry monitoring, and cardioversions Experience titrating drips including pressors, insulin, anticoagulants, epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, and angiotensin-II 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years Additional Information Responsibilities include bedside shift safety rounding (BSSR), hourly rounding, titrating drips, EKG interpretation, and telemetry monitoring Unit is staffed with a department charge nurse (who takes assignments) and a house supervisor One-day RN orientation provided Floating may be required to the ED as a helping hand during codes or traumas if assigned to the code team Low-census standby may be required Navy blue scrubs required; hoodies are not permitted Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay rate American Traveler Job ID #P-681189.
