Job Description

Join the ranks of the Secret Service, an agency recognized for its commitment to courage, intelligence, strength, and determination. We are seeking individuals who are ready to take on the challenge of providing unparalleled protection while maintaining our legacy of investigation and security. As a Secret Service Police Officer, your primary responsibilities will include: Providing steadfast protection for significant locations such as The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies. Traveling to support Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions. Enforcing protective responsibilities as mandated by Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A. Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen. Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license. At least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral (exceptions may apply for federal law enforcement veterans). Ability to carry and use a firearm, with mandatory firearm proficiency. Uncorrected visual acuity must be 20/100 binocular or better, and corrected vision should be 20/20 or better in each eye. Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in specified frequency ranges and must meet the whispered voice test criteria. Must submit to a drug test prior to appointment and agree to random drug testing while employed. Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) followed by 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must certify registration with the Selective Service System or be exempt. Relocation to our Washington, DC area is required to perform this vital role.
