Job Description About the Role As a Cloud Security Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and overseeing the security architecture and standards for our cloud infrastructure, encompassing compute, network, storage, identity, access, data protection, and AI/ML systems. You will lead impactful design reviews, engage in threat modeling, and shape cryptographic strategies, while advocating for a zero-trust framework and enhancing our detection and incident response capabilities. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with senior leaders and product teams, mentor engineers, and guide roadmaps with effective communication and clear metrics. Ideal candidates possess extensive experience in building secure cloud platforms, particularly in large-scale distributed systems, and exhibit a customer-focused mindset. About the Business Our Secure Technology, Architecture and Safety (STAS) team is at the forefront of establishing Oracle's security direction across cloud computing. We are seeking a distinguished Security Architect to develop comprehensive security architectures for our hyperscale cloud services and drive security enhancements throughout the software lifecycle. What You'll Do Strategy Development: Create multi-year security architecture strategies and roadmaps for various cloud services, identity management, data protection, and secure supply chain. Design Leadership: Develop and publish security reference architectures and control frameworks; lead design reviews and architecture councils across organizations. Secure Cloud Building: Collaborate on the design of cloud services, ensuring secure configurations are the default. Identity and Zero Trust Advocacy: Promote strong identity management and policies that adhere to zero-trust principles. Cryptographic Strategy: Direct strategies for key management, data encryption, and innovative privacy technologies at scale. Embedded Security in Development: Integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle, including threat modeling and security testing tools. Detection and Response Collaboration: Work with security teams for high-quality detection strategies and incident response frameworks. Risk and Compliance Management: Translate regulatory requirements into actionable security controls and ensure safety principles are embedded in new technologies. Incident Leadership: Lead significant incident responses and establish metrics for continuous improvement. Influence and Mentorship: Produce comprehensive documentation and mentor senior engineers while fostering a culture of security excellence. What You'll Bring Over 12 years of experience in security architecture or engineering for large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on cloud infrastructure. Proficiency in multiple areas, including identity and access management, container security, data protection, and incident response. Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP, and tools like Kubernetes and CI/CD systems. A proven track record of leading initiatives and delivering secure solutions across diverse environments. Strong communication skills, capable of creating clear design documentation and presenting to stakeholders. A commitment to inclusive collaboration and mentoring of peers. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in designing key management services and privacy-enhancing technologies. Demonstrated leadership in major incident response and system improvement initiatives. A history of published standards or contributions to open-source security projects. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
