General Purpose: The Store Security Specialist plays a crucial role by maintaining a visible presence at store entrances/exits, minimizing theft and fraud, and ensuring a safe environment for both associates and customers. By engaging customers with a friendly demeanor and following our loss prevention practices, you will contribute to protecting the Ross brand. Key Responsibilities: Maintaining a Safe Environment: Prioritize safety by actively monitoring store traffic, maintaining clear emergency exits, and addressing safety concerns as identified by store leadership. Providing Excellent Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer their questions, and treat them and your co-workers respectfully at all times. Mitigating Theft & Fraud: Observe for suspicious behaviors and implement company policies to respond to theft attempts effectively. Minimizing Inventory Loss: Educate staff on loss prevention strategies and assist in monitoring customers and associates during the checkout process. Key Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s degree is preferred. One year of experience in retail supervision or related training is preferred. Experience in loss prevention/security is desirable; an active Security Guard License is a plus. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and communicate effectively. A demonstrated capacity to resolve conflicts and provide exceptional customer service. Must adhere to federal and state laws regarding security positions, including background checks and drug testing. Physical Requirements: Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. Ability to spend extended periods standing and walking within the store. Capable of lifting objects over 25 lbs. and performing various physical tasks as needed.
