This role works closely with production and engineering teams to ensure quality, consistency, and reliable processes. The position is hands-on, detail-oriented, and ideal for individuals looking to grow their technical skills in optics and advanced manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Perform inspection of optical components using microscopes and other metrology tools Clean, handle, assemble, and package delicate optical and opto-electronic components Follow written procedures for manufacturing, cleaning, and inspection Maintain cleanroom areas and follow cleanroom protocols Manage consumable inventory for manufacturing and cleanroom operations Accurately transact work orders in the ERP system Document work performed and support improvements to procedures Participate in continuous improvement activities and process refinement Operate basic fabrication or coating equipment as trained (tasks may vary by assignment) Troubleshoot minor issues with equipment or processes and escalate when needed Follow all safety training, PPE requirements, and operational guidelines Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor Education & Experience Experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment preferred Experience working with optical components is helpful but not required Familiarity with cleanroom or ESD-safe environments is a plus Comfort using microscopes or fine-detail inspection tools is a plus Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination Ability to follow written processes consistently and accurately Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring sustained focus Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and email Willingness to learn new technical skills and processes Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team Working Conditions & Physical Demands Regular use of a computer, microscope, and small hand tools Frequent sitting, bending, reaching, and fine-motor movements Handling and positioning fragile optical components Repetitive wrist and forearm movements during inspection work Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs continuously Exposure to minimal alcohol and acetone fumes during cleaning Ability to gown up and work in a cleanroom environment Strict adherence to all safety procedures and PPE requirements Requirements (ITAR/EAR) Certain positions within IDEX Corporation require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Total Rewards The compensation range for this position is $46,700.00 - $70,100.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
